Day 6 - 8

over the weekend, it was pretty nice.

i've spent a lot of time with Pico, talking to him, and playing with him.

i did try the idea of having my husband (Pico's favorite person) say "NO" to Pico when he lunges for my hand, but, probably because hubby was watching, he didn't have to say "NO" because Pico was so NICE. he didn't lunge for my hand as i had him step up on the stick.

he loves his red plastic ball (with a smaller ball in it that jingles) and ive been dropping it, giving it to him, letting him drop it, etc. he was so alert and interested! it was wonderful.

a big step that occurred this weekend...he allowed me to preen his head while he was on the play stand! he never allowed me to do that before....it was something only allowed when he was in his cage and me on the other side of the bars.

a step forward? well, being that it has only been the first week, we are still in the honeymoon phase. let's wait 2 more weeks!

oh, also, we did try to give him a bath this weekend - didnt go so well as i hoped. we put him on a bath perch in our shower and turned on the lukewarm water in a way so that it seemed to be like rain, but Pico didn't like it at all. poor thing! we know he likes being misted, so we bought some spray bottles and we plan to try that out one day.

i plan to work more with Pico on the step ups (probably continue with the stick until he stops lunging for my hand) and maybe even bring him to a neutral room and work with him there.
